Head Coach of Black Bombers, Ofori Asare, has stated coaching has been difficult due to zero support for boxing fraternity in the country.
Coach Asare, believes this frequent snub led to some questionable performance from the boxer’s at some stage.
“We need a physiotherapist around us anytime, we need a dietician to help us about the food that we’re supposed to eat. But we don’t have them. I’ve to take it upon myself to advise around it. That is how it has always been”, he lamented.
“We always call for support in terms of these things that we’ve always been talking about”.
“Coaching in our part of the world is a difficult aspect and we have to do all and that is what happened”.
Joseph Commey’s chance of a gold medal in the Commonwealth Games at Birmingham was dashed as the boxer fell ill at the final stage.
