The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has inaugurated a new office at Dansoman in Accra as part of efforts to decentralize its operations and bring essential services closer to the public.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of the DVLA, Mr. Julius Neequaye Kotey, said the establishment of the Dansoman office formed part of the Authority’s broader strategy to ensure that Ghanaians can access DVLA services without having to travel long distances.

“Change of ownership and other DVLA services can now be done right here at Dansoman. This is a conscious effort to bridge the gap and make our services more accessible to every Ghanaian. It is often heartbreaking to see people travel far just to access our services,” he said.
Mr. Kotey explained that the new office, which becomes the seventh established within the last ten months, aligns with DVLA’s policy of bringing service delivery closer to communities through both government and private partnerships.

He said the DVLA would continue to collaborate with the private sector to extend operations to areas where the Authority is not yet physically present, but stressed that such partnerships would only apply in locations without an existing DVLA office to avoid duplication of services.
The CEO also announced plans for the establishment and rehabilitation of other offices across the country, including Swedru, Nalerigu Walewale, Bole, Asakragua and Mampong. He added that a major ultra-modern office complex is also being developed in the Ashanti Region.

According to Mr. Kotey, the Dansoman office will be staffed mainly by residents of the community, in line with DVLA’s local recruitment policy aimed at creating jobs and building strong community relations.
“At least 50 percent of the entire staff will be employed from Dansoman. We want to take care of the people within the community while ensuring that we have competent and well-trained staff to deliver quality service,” he noted.

He commended his management team and staff for their commitment and hard work in making the new office a reality, adding that the DVLA will continue to uphold transparency and professionalism in all its operations.
“No ‘goro’ work will be done here. Actual charges will be displayed clearly for everyone to see so that customers receive genuine service at the right cost,” he assured.
He expressed confidence that the DVLA’s expansion agenda will improve service delivery nationwide.
