As part of efforts to strengthen the capacity of the Ghana National Fire Service to prevent and respond swiftly to fire outbreaks in the Weija-Gbawe Municipality, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Felix Odartey Lamptey, has donated an amount of GHC 30,000 to support the repair of a broken-down fire tender within the municipality.
The gesture, according to the MCE, forms part of the Assembly’s commitment to public safety and proactive fire management, especially as the dry season approaches.
He emphasized that an operational fire tender is critical to timely emergency response and the protection of lives and property.
Hon. Lamptey noted that the Municipality has recorded several fire incidents in recent years, particularly in residential and market areas, making the readiness of the Fire Service a top priority for the Assembly.
He further called on corporate bodies, community stakeholders, and residents to collaborate with the Fire Service through compliance with safety regulations and regular fire education.
The Ghana National Fire Service in the Municipality expressed gratitude to the MCE and the Assembly for the support, describing it as timely and necessary to enhance service delivery.
The repaired fire tender is expected to be back in full operation soon to serve communities across the Weija-Gbawe Municipality and its adjoining areas.
