News making the rounds has it that highlife legend, Nana Kwame Ampadu is no more. Filanewsgh cannot independently confirm this but in an interview with a supposed relative on radio, he confirmed that the music giant died Tuesday, 28 September 2021 at 6 am.
According to the relative whose name was not mentioned, but is a grandson, noted Nana Ampadu, allegedly for some time now has not been feeling well. He added there was a family meeting underway in connection to the sad news.
Nana Ampadu hails from Obo-Kwahu in the Eastern Region. The Ghanaian musician is credited with composing over 800 songs. Nana formed the “African Brothers Band” in 1963 with Eddie Donker. The band with him released Ebi Te Yie (some are well seated) which the then government National Liberation Council saw as critical of its administration. In 1973 he won a nationwide competition to be crowned the Odwontofoohene(Singer-In-Chief).
News of his demise has been confirmed by his grandson who spoke to Hitz FM.
Many celebrities have hence taken to social media to express their condolences. May his soul rest in peace.
