The 2024 running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman is convinced members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) are panicking over former President John Mahama’s 24-hour economy policy.
Speaking at a campaign durbar in Mankessim, Professor Opoku Agyeman says the persistent claims by the NPP that the policy is not clear is borne out of pretence.
According to her the NPP understood the capacity of the policy to boost economic activity and create jobs.
Since the announcement of the 24 hour policy plan by the NDC, the NPP flagbearer, Alhaji Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has led a campaign of attacks and denigration of the policy.
Dr. Bawumia and the NPP have questioned the feasibility and clarity of the policy of the 24 hour economic policy.
However, Professor Opoku Agyeman said the NPP’s response is a sign of panic.
“As for the 24-hour economy, we have explained it very well, but somebody still claims he does not understand it.
The claim that the 24-hour economy policy is not clear, is a lie. They understand it but are panicking. They are panicking because it will change lives, especially that of women,” John Mahama’s running mate told traders at Mankessim lorry station.
The 2024 NDC Running who was in Mankessim as part of a campaign tour of the Central regions explained to traders that the policy will ensure businesses operate freely and create the conditions for people to work and earn a decent income.
The NDC running mate criticized the NPP government for its failure to address the economic challenges facing the country.
The 24-hour economy policy has become a major talking point in the lead-up to the 2024 elections, with the NDC touting it as a solution to Ghana’s economic challenges.
