President John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghanaian youth to take full advantage of the opportunities presented by the newly launched Adwumawura programme to create, build, and lead the future of the nation.
Addressing a packed audience at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, during the official launch, President Mahama encouraged young people to see the programme as a platform to transform their ideas into thriving businesses.
“The Adwumawura programme is your platform, an opportunity to create, build, and lead,” President Mahama told the youth.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to providing and creating job opportunities, urging the youth to actively tap into the resources and structures being offered to maximize their potential and benefits.
President Mahama assured that businesses under the Adwumawura initiative will be “supported, nurtured, and sustained over time,” with the introduction of an annual Adwumawura Trade Fair and Exhibition.
This trade fair will showcase the creativity, innovation, products, and services of Adwumawura beneficiaries, offering them vital exposure and market access.
“The exhibition will serve not only to highlight the talents of our youth but also to build strategic partnerships and attract much-needed investments,” President Mahama added.
The Adwumawura programme is anchored on six thematic pillars:
Promotion of inclusivity,
Building a robust national system for ideation and business acceleration,
Facilitating access to funding,
Integrating technology into business development,
Coordinating access to partnerships, markets, and investment opportunities, and
Establishing an effective monitoring and evaluation system to ensure transparency and business sustainability.
The initiative, according to President Mahama, is a flagship fulfillment of promises made during the 2024 electioneering campaign and reflects the government’s faith in the innovative spirit and entrepreneurial capacity of Ghana’s youth.
Details on the application processes and the first edition of the Adwumawura Trade Fair are expected to be announced soon.
