Veteran journalist, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has criticised former Vice President and NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for attempting to take credit for the recent appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi.
He accused him of lacking the moral authority to comment on the currency’s performance after presiding over years of economic decline.
Speaking during a panel discussion on Good Morning Ghana, hosted by Moro Awudu, Mr. Pratt claimed Dr. Bawumia has no right to comment on the recent appreciation of the cedi.
“What right does Dr. Bawumia have to lecture us on the cedi?” Pratt asked
“The dollar moved from GHS3 to nearly GHS17 under his leadership. This is someone who promised the cedi would not depreciate under his watch, yet he presided over one of the worst currency performances in our history.” He added
Pratt didn’t hold back as he accused Dr. Bawumia of arrogance and dishonesty, particularly for attempting to claim credit for recent marginal improvements in the cedi’s value, gains made under the new National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration led by President John Dramani Mahama.
