Ghanaian entrepreneur, Mr. Stephen Komla Adom, has made a renewed public appeal for intervention in a prolonged dispute over the control of his paint manufacturing business, Dominion Paints Manufacturing Industries Limited (DOPAMIL), which he says has been taken over under contentious circumstances.
Speaking at a press conference, Mr. Adom reiterated allegations that his company became the subject of a coordinated takeover involving Quick Angels Limited, Fidelity Bank, and certain security and judicial processes, following the breakdown of an earlier investment partnership.
According to him, DOPAMIL entered into a joint venture with Quick Angels Limited aimed at expanding production capacity. However, he claims the relationship later deteriorated into a dispute over ownership and control, culminating in legal action filed at the Ho High Court in December 2021.
He said the court subsequently issued an interlocutory injunction, but alleges that shortly after the ruling, individuals linked to Quick Angels Limited, accompanied by police officers, took physical control of the factory premises. Mr. Adom further claimed he and his workers were denied access, while operations at the facility were halted.
Mr. Adom also raised concerns about financial transactions involving Fidelity Bank, alleging that company accounts were manipulated and that certain withdrawals were executed without proper authorization. He claims these records were later relied upon in court proceedings.
He further questioned the fairness of contempt proceedings that led to his conviction in December 2023, arguing that key evidence in his favour was not adequately considered. He is also challenging delays in the main case, which he says has left the business effectively under the control of his former partners.
Beyond the courtroom, Mr. Adom alleges that complaints he lodged with the police over the takeover and subsequent incidents, including a fire outbreak at the factory in February 2026, have not received adequate attention.
He is now calling for an independent investigation into the entire dispute, a review of court decisions related to the case, and the restoration of his control over DOPAMIL, along with compensation for losses he claims to have suffered.
While the allegations remain unproven in court, the case continues to highlight tensions surrounding corporate partnerships and dispute resolution within Ghana’s business environment.
