Founding President of the IMANI Center for Policy and Research Franklin Cudjoe has served notice his outfit will push for the compilation of a new register if a new government replaces the Nana Akufo-Addo led administration.
This according to him is because the just compiled register is fraudulent and worthless.
The Jean Mensah led EC has described the register as the most credible in the history of Ghana and has applauded itself for a good work done after the voters registration exercise ended with a mop-up exercise on 9 August 2020.
Franklin Cudjoe however wonders how the EC can describe as credible, a register that had close to 40% of registrants entering through the vouching system.
He told Sena Nombo on the Gold Power Drive, the newly compiled register is worse than the register it is supposed to replace.
Mr. Cudjoe said his outfit has evidence that points to the fact that a lot guarantors did not know the persons for whom they were guaranteeing.
He said IMANI had video evidence of filled guarantee forms being ditched to potential registrants by EC officials.
The Electoral Commission in the lead up to the voters registration exercise also suggested that the 2012 register was over-bloated.
Franklin Cudjoe said the close to 17million eligible voters registered by the just ended voters registration exercise goes to prove that the EC’s claim of over-bloating was baseless.
