The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Sammy Gyamfi is working to secure bail for the President of Concerned Small Scale Miners Association Michael Kwadwo Peprah.
Michael Kwadwo Peprah is behind cells in Accra after being picked up yesterday by the police in Kumasi and initially held at the Kumasi Central Police Station.

Sammy Gyamfi in a statement said the President of Concerned Small Scale Miners Association was arrested “on the orders of the Environment Minister and Chief “Galamsey” promoter, Professor Frimpong Boateng.”
According to the NDC National Communications Officer, the arrest was connected to a post Michael Kwadwo Peprah made on his Facebook wall ahead of a planned press conference of the Concerned Small Scale Miners Association tomorrow.
Sammy Gyamfi said the press conference was intended to expose the activities of the NPP Government in the small-scale mining sector.
He described the arrest as condemnable and intended to silence critical voices.
“The NDC condemns this shameful act, which is part of a desperate scheme by the oppressive and despotic Akufo Addo-government to intimidate, harass and silence critical voices ahead of the 2020 general elections. “
“We are reliably informed that as we speak, Michael Kwadwo Peprah has not been given access to his lawyers by the Police. We humbly entreat the media and CSOs to follow this matter and give it the attention it deserves,” he stated.
Sammy Gyamfi accused the President of complicity in the arrest of President of Concerned Small Scale Miners Association by overseeing a culture of tyranny.
“Let’s us speak up against the culture of oppression and tyranny being supervised by President Akufo Addo, because injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. #IstandWithMichaelKwadwoPeprah,” he called.
