The Electricity Company of Ghana, led by the General Manager at the Accra Subtransmission, Francis Kofi Atsyatsya have deployed and commissioned a mobile transformer targeted at tackling the issue of insufficient power supply reliability associated with low voltages and frequent power outages in the Tseaddo community.
The La- Trade Fair Substation according to Kofi Atsyatsya, can no longer provide effective power supply to Tseaddo as before due to the rapid development of the community, hence the provision of the transformer of a 20 MVA capacity expected to hold the power of Tseaddo temporarily while measures are put in place for a permanent one.
“Currently,Tseaddo takes supply from our Trade Fair Substation, he stated, and as you can see the place is developing fast, you can see very high rise in buildings around and so we’ve been having a lot of power outages in the area associated with low voltages”.
The Mobile Substation has been reported to have been moved from Agbogba to its present location at Tseaddo after the commissioning of a new Substation in Agbogba. The mobile substation was, before the commissioning in Agbogba holding the fault as work was being done for a permanent solution in the community.
Speaking to journalists, the general manager revealed that the first phase of the exercise is expected to cover a week while the an estimated time of five weeks he believes is enough to complete the entire project.
“The first phase will take us a week to complete, he said and then in the next five weeks, all other works associated with this project will be completed in six weeks”.
Francis Atsyatsya mentioned that broader efforts are being considered to upgrade their infrastructure in communities such as Lashibi, Baastona, Teshie-Nungua, Adenta, Ridge in the Greater Accra Region as well as Denu in the Volta Region.
He says the ECG has plans to work towards their services and to resolve major problems being faced by their customers.
