President John Dramani Mahama has commenced his one-day official visit to France with a high-level meeting with the President of the French Senate, Gérard Larcher.
The Ghanaian leader was accorded a ceremonial military welcome ahead of the bilateral engagement, underscoring the strong diplomatic ties between Ghana and France.
Discussions during the meeting covered a broad range of issues, including trade and investment, regional security, and the fight against terrorism.
The two sides also explored France’s support for maternal health and agricultural development in Ghana, as well as Ghana’s recent economic gains under the Mahama administration.
President Mahama is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, National Security Advisor Prosper Bani, Secretary to the President Dr. Callistus Mahama, Presidential Advisor and Special Aide Joyce Mogtari, and Ghana’s Ambassador to France Mavis Frimpong.
Later in the day, President Mahama and his delegation are expected to hold talks with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace, where further discussions are anticipated to deepen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
