Actor Kwadwo Nkansah, better known as Lil Win, has been granted bail of ₵50,000 with two sureties by the Asokore Mampong District Court after being arrested on Monday, June 3.
The actor was arrested by officers from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Manhyia Divisional Command shortly after being released from the hospital.
His arrest is related to a recent accident involving a vehicle he was driving, which sadly led to the death of a three-year-old boy.
The family of the three-year-old boy had been calling for justice after the death of their loved one, but police said that Lil Win’s arrest was delayed because of his health condition.
Lil Win has been charged with dangerous driving and negligently causing harm.
The prosecution told the court that they were still looking into the matter and said that the accused should make himself available whenever he was needed.
The prosecution also said that the case was delayed because of the accused’s health condition.
However, Lil Win’s lawyer, Margaret Adjei-Twum, said that her client had injuries, including internal bleeding, and should be granted bail to get treatment.
She said that her client was a well-known person in the country and would not run away from the court as the case goes on.
She also said that the police forced them to go to court even though her client had not fully recovered.
There was a strong police presence at the Asokore Mampong District Court.
The case has been postponed to June 27, 2024.
