Nine years have passed since the devastating flood and fire disaster that occurred on June 3, 2015. On that tragic day, a combination of heavy rainfall and an explosion at the Goil fuel station claimed the lives of over 150 people at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra, Ghana’s capital city.
The rains, which began on June 1, 2015, as normal rainfall, intensified and affected most parts of Accra, with the area known as ‘Circle’ and its surroundings being hit the hardest.

The traumatic memories of that fateful day continue to haunt him, influencing his daily life. “I don’t step out when the weather changes due to what happened to me 9 years ago,” he added, highlighting the lasting impact of the disaster on his mental well-being.
