The Vice presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has called on women to ditch the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming elections.
According to her the the Akuffo Addo Bawumia government should face the consequences for neglecting their needs.
The neglect, the NDC Running mate said has been felt mostly by women whose needs the NPP government has failed to address.
The NDC running mate Professor Opoku-Agyemang made this remark during her tour at major market centers in Accra on Thursday, August 15, 2024.
Addressing traders in Mallam Atta, Kaneshie and Makola markets, Prof Opoku-Agyemang bemoaned the exlusion and marginalization of women groups especially traders from the decision-making processes.
She accused the NPP government of prioritizing the interests of their family and friends over the welfare of groups like market women.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang underscored the economic challenges facing women, including high prices of goods and services, and limited access to credit and other resources.
She urged women to vote for the NDC because the party has a plans to address their concerns and empower them.
The tour enabled Prof Opoku Agyemang to interact with market women and traders as well as sensitize them on the NDC’s policy proposals to support traders and women.
During the tour, the NDC Running also met with the leadership of the various markets to listen to their concerns and factor them into the party’s plans for the traders.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang told the traders to believe and trust the NDC’s flagbearer John Dramani Mahama, to turn around fortunes and bring hope to the ordinarily Ghanaian.
She also introduced the NDC parliamentary candidates of Ayawaso Central, Okaikwei South, and Odododioodioo constituencies to the traders.
