John Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, has made a bold commitment to boost Ghana’s creative arts industry.
He’s pledged to host an annual dialogue, which he’ll personally chair, bringing together industry leaders, stakeholders, and government ministers to tackle key challenges.
This initiative aims to drive meaningful change through open dialogue, fostering stronger collaboration between government and industry.
Key Highlights of Mahama’s Plan:
- Annual Dialogue: A yearly gathering to discuss progress, challenges, and policies affecting the creative arts sector.
- Multi-Stakeholder Approach: Involving leaders, stakeholders, and government ministers to ensure a comprehensive approach.
- Empowering Creatives: Refining policies to support artists, musicians, filmmakers, and other creatives.
- Tourism and Culture Boost: Enhancing the arts, culture, and tourism sectors to create a more supportive environment.
Mahama’s commitment is part of his broader vision for the creative industry, outlined in the NDC’s 2024 manifesto ³. He’s also introduced “The Black Experience,” a comprehensive policy framework to enhance tourism and creative arts.
With this initiative, Mahama hopes to replicate the success of creatives in other parts of the world and create millions of jobs for young Ghanaians.
