Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama has expressed gratitude to the Czech Republic for its support in transforming Ghana’s healthcare sector through the Vamed Health Projects initiative.
The Czech government is backing the construction of 12 hospitals with 40-bed capacity each and 12 units of 2-bedroom semi-detached houses for hospital staff across various communities in Ghana.

This initiative is part of the strengthened diplomatic and economic ties between Ghana and the Czech Republic, highlighted by Czech President Petr Pavel’s historic three-day state visit to Ghana from April 8 to 10, 2025. During his visit, President Pavel will engage in bilateral talks with President Mahama, address a business forum, commission a Czech-funded health facility, and tour key national heritage sites like the Osu Castle and Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park.
