The Member of Parliament for Pru East, Emmanuel Kwaku Boam, has expressed satisfaction with the Interior Ministry’s actions to reduce crime on the Yeji-Kumasi highway. A highway that has been notorious for armed robbery attacks, including a recent incident where a young man was killed.
“This move will go a long way to curb the crime rate in the area,” he stated, adding that he and his constituents had been living in fear whenever they used the road. “Therefore, I’m happy with the measures put in place by the ministry,” he concluded, expressing optimism for improved security on the highway”, Hon. Boam told Radio Gold’s parliamentary correspondent, Eugenia Ewoenam Osei
The member of Parliament for the Pru East Constituency called on all persons, irrespective of their political affiliation to come together to tackle the issue by providing the necessary intelligence required to aid the police in their investigation.
In response to a parliamentary inquiry from Hon. Boam, Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak stated that over 50 security personnel and highway patrol vehicles have been deployed to the area.
The Interior Minister’s parliamentary address comes in the wake of a fatal armed robbery attack on Sunday, July 6, 2025, between 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM, at Domeabra, a suburb of Yeji in the Pru East District. Reports indicate that robbers signaled a vehicle to stop. As the driver decelerated, one of the assailants fired into the vehicle, fatally wounding a young livestock seller in the jaw.
