President John Dramani Mahama has appointed former Hajj Board Communications Director, Alhaji Halidu Haruna, as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Zongo Development Fund.
Alhaji Haruna, a former parliamentary aspirant for the Ablekuma Central Constituency, will oversee the development and progress of Zongo communities across the country.
In his new role, he is expected to spearhead initiatives in education, healthcare, and infrastructure aimed at upgrading the living standards of Zongo communities.
“The Zongo Development Fund is central to our Reset Agenda of inclusiveness and equity. I expect Alhaji Haruna to bring his experience and dedication to ensure that our Zongo communities are not left behind in national development,” President Mahama said.
The appointment marks a significant step in advancing government’s commitment to transforming historically underserved Zongo areas into vibrant centres of growth and opportunity.
Alhaji Haruna expressed gratitude to the President for the confidence reposed in him.
“I am humbled by this appointment and committed to working tirelessly to ensure that the Fund delivers tangible results that will uplift our Zongo communities,” he stated.
The Zongo Development Fund, established to address developmental challenges in Zongo settlements, has been tasked with driving projects in education, healthcare, sanitation, skills training, and infrastructure.
With Alhaji Haruna at the helm, stakeholders expect renewed momentum in implementing projects that will provide opportunities for youth, improve social amenities, and enhance livelihoods in Zongo communities nationwide.
