The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the release of funds to all Senior High Schools (SHSs) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTSs) across the country to support the conduct of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) practicals.
In a statement issued on April 21, 2026, the Service said the funds are intended to cover fees associated with the practical components of the examination, ensuring that all required materials and essential resources are adequately provided.
According to GES, the move is aimed at guaranteeing a smooth and well-coordinated examination process, allowing students to concentrate fully on their academic work without financial interruptions. The intervention is also expected to ease the burden on parents and guardians who would otherwise have to shoulder the cost of practical examination materials.
The Service further urged regional, district, and school authorities to ensure that the funds are used strictly for their intended purpose. It stressed the importance of accountability and efficiency in managing the resources to maintain high standards in the administration of the examination.
GES indicated that it will continue to monitor the utilisation of the funds to ensure compliance with established guidelines.
The statement, signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at GES, expressed appreciation to stakeholders for their cooperation in advancing quality education and reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to supporting student success nationwide.
