The Board Chairman of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Nana Adu Nyarko Nyamekye, has officially unveiled activities marking the Centre’s 20th anniversary celebration.
The anniversary, being commemorated under the theme “20 Years of Financial Inclusion and Enterprise Development: Partnering to Reset Ghana’s Economy,” seeks to highlight MASLOC’s contribution to financial inclusion, entrepreneurship and enterprise development over the past two decades.
Speaking at the official launch of the anniversary celebration, Nana Adu Nyarko Nyamekye said MASLOC had, for 20 years, remained committed to creating access to financial and economic opportunities for Ghanaians who might otherwise be excluded from the formal financial system.
He said through its mandate, MASLOC had supported individuals, groups and small-scale enterprises to establish and expand businesses, create jobs, improve household incomes and contribute to economic activity in communities across the country.
“For two decades, MASLOC has been committed to a simple but powerful mandate: to create access to financial and economic opportunities for Ghanaians who may otherwise be excluded from the formal financial system,” he said.
According to the Board Chairman, the 20th anniversary theme was not only a reflection of MASLOC’s achievements over the years but also a call to reposition the institution to play a stronger role in Ghana’s economic transformation.
“As Ghana works to reset and strengthen its economy, MASLOC must position itself as an even stronger catalyst for entrepreneurship, job creation and inclusive economic growth,” Nana Adu Nyarko Nyamekye stated.
He stressed the need for MASLOC’s interventions to reach the people who needed them most, while ensuring that the programmes remained sustainable, transparent, accountable and impactful.
Nana Adu Nyarko Nyamekye further assured that the governing board was committed to providing the strategic direction and oversight required to guide MASLOC into its next phase of development.
He said the Board, working closely with management, would continue to promote accountability, efficiency and excellence while strengthening partnerships with government and other stakeholders to advance national development.
The Board Chairman also commended MASLOC’s management, staff, development partners, stakeholders and the media for their contributions to the institution’s work over the years.
“As we rise to celebrate today’s achievement, I would therefore call on our Chief Executive Officer to join me as we officially unveil the 20th anniversary celebration,” he said.
The anniversary celebration is expected to provide an opportunity for MASLOC to reflect on its two decades of service, showcase its impact on beneficiaries and strengthen its commitment to supporting entrepreneurship, financial inclusion and sustainable enterprise development in Ghana.
