President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in London for a high-level working visit aimed at deepening economic cooperation between Ghana and the United Kingdom, promoting investment opportunities, and engaging with the Ghanaian diaspora community.
The visit will feature a royal audience with King Charles III and a breakfast meeting with British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, underscoring the strong and enduring relationship between the two countries.
President Mahama was received on arrival by Lord Katz MBE of the Royal Household, H.E. Gordon Wetherell, Special Representative of the Secretary of State for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), and Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, H.E. Sabah Zita Benson.
According to a statement issued by the Minister for Government Communications and Presidential Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the visit is intended to strengthen long-standing bilateral relations, position Ghana as a premier destination for investment, and foster stronger engagement with Ghanaians living abroad.
As part of his itinerary, President Mahama will participate in a diaspora town hall meeting hosted by the Ghana High Commission in London, providing an opportunity to interact directly with members of the Ghanaian community in the United Kingdom.
On Monday, the President will officially open the Ghana–UK Investment Summit at Raffles London.
The summit is expected to serve as a platform for attracting foreign direct investment and facilitating partnerships between Ghanaian entrepreneurs and British investors.
In a demonstration of Ghana’s growing presence in global financial markets, President Mahama will also visit the London Stock Exchange, where he will ring the opening bell to mark the start of trading.
The President is further scheduled to deliver a policy address at Chatham House and a keynote speech at the 12th Africa Debate at Guildhall, London, where he is expected to outline Ghana’s economic vision and discuss broader issues affecting Africa’s development and global competitiveness.
President Mahama’s visit to London will conclude on June 3, 2026.
