President John Dramani Mahama has approved a major reorganisation of the National Security Council Secretariat, resulting in a number of key appointments and reassignments aimed at strengthening the country’s national security architecture.
The changes, which take immediate effect, were announced in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, MP.
According to the statement, former Chief of Army Staff, Major (Rtd.) General William Ayamdo, has been appointed Deputy National Security Coordinator (Operations). His appointment is expected to bolster operational coordination and strategic oversight within the Secretariat.
The statement also announced that former National Security Coordinator, Mr. Yaw Donkor, has been reassigned as Director of Intelligence and Research at the Office of the National Security Advisor.
Additionally, Mr. Adamu Saaka has been appointed Director of Logistics and Transport, while Ms. Faustina Effah-Boadi will serve as Officer in Charge of the Human Security Department.
Former senior police officer DCOP (Rtd.) Peter Ndekugri has also been appointed Officer in Charge of the Special Investigations Unit.
Meanwhile, ACP Alhassan Osman has been reassigned to the Ghana Police Service for further deployment.
Announcing the changes, the Presidency stated that, “His Excellency the President has approved the following appointments and reassignments as part of the reorganisation of the National Security Council Secretariat.”
The statement further stressed that, “These appointments and reassignments take immediate effect.”
The reorganisation forms part of the government’s efforts to enhance the operational efficiency of the National Security Council Secretariat and strengthen Ghana’s national security framework.
