IT analyst based in the United States Arnold Appiah has expressed worry about the quality of advice being provided the Electoral Commission (EC) by its IT team and Consultants.
His concern comes in the wake of comments made the Chairperson of the EC Jean Mensah at a meeting of some members of organized labour.
Mrs. Mensah at the meeting said the EC’s IT Consultants had advised them to compile a new register because they feared data of some voters might be lost when migrating the data in the current biometric register onto the new biometric system they intend to install.
She also said the EC’s IT Consultants were unimpressed with the quality of the biometric data of some voters hence the need to capture new ones.
IT Analyst Arnold Appiah is however surprised the EC Chairperson is making such claims in June 2020 when data migration is constantly carried out.
He described the EC’s Consultants as incompetent and wondered how they were recruited.
Arnold Appiah told Sena Nombo on the Gold Power Drive the claims are mindboggling and leaves more questions than answers.
He is convinced the two reasons cannot are weird and cannot be the basis for spending the colossal amounts the EC plans to spend on the voters registration exercise.
The EC plans to conduct the registration exercise on June 30, 2020.
