Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the person who planned the ‘Hands Off our Hotels‘ protest, is very upset with the police. He doesn’t like how they treated some of the people who were marching.

“I want to say that what the police did was wrong. This was a peaceful march, and our people behaved well. So why did the police use tear gas on innocent people? Now we have to take some of them to the hospital quickly,” Ablakwa said.

He also warned the police that if anything bad happens to the people who got hurt, the police will be in trouble. “The police can’t just do whatever they want and scare innocent people,” he added.

The protest was supposed to be against the sale of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) hotels. But on Tuesday, June 19, the police made the protesters stop walking in the middle of their march. They were supposed to finish at a place called Christ The King, but the police stopped them halfway at the switchback road in Cantonment, Accra.

Ablakwa asked the police, “Is this Christ the King?” when he was talking on a TV show called New Central on TV3.

He also said that some of the protesters had to be rushed to the hospital because the police threw tear gas at them and they needed medical help.

“If anything happens to any of the protesters, we will make sure the police are held responsible,” Ablakwa said.

It seems like the police and the protesters have some problems to work out. The protesters think they should be allowed to march peacefully, but the police used force to stop them. Now, some people are hurt, and the person who planned the protest is very angry at the police.
