Atta Mills Memorial Heritage Announces Events to Commemorate Late President’s Demise
The John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Heritage, an organization dedicated to honoring the legacy of the late President John Atta Mills, has unveiled a series of events to mark the anniversary of his passing.
These activities will commemorate the 12th anniversary of President Mills’s death and celebrate his contributions to Ghana’s development.
speaking at a press conference in Accra thursday, chairman of the John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Heritage, Alex Segbefia indicated that Friday, 19th July, will witness a thought-provoking lecture delivered by the esteemed Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Junior. With his vast knowledge and expertise, Mr. Pratt will shed light on the enduring impact of President Mills’s tenure.
Former Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo has been appointed as the chairperson of the lecture, emphasizing the event’s importance and the esteemed status of the late president.
On the same note, a captivating book titled “Atta Mills Around the Regions” will be launched as part of the commemoration activities.
The book is a compilation of all the lectures delivered in each of Ghana’s 16 regions during the year-long celebration of President Mills’s 10th death anniversary.
In addition, a solemn Wreath Laying Ceremony and Memorial Service honoring President Atta Mills will be held at the Asomdwee Park on Thursday, 24th July 2024.
The event will provide an opportunity for Ghanaians from all walks of life to pay their respects and remember the late president’s immense contributions to the country.
To further celebrate President Mills’s legacy, the Atta Mills Memorial Heritage will also organize a thrilling hockey tournament.
The Atta Mills Memorial Hockey Tournament will take place on Saturday, 27th July 2024, at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium.
The competition will attract talented players from various schools and clubs, igniting a sense of camaraderie and healthy competition among participants.
The Atta Mills Memorial Hockey Tournament not only commemorates the late president’s passion for sports but also serves as a platform for nurturing young talent and promoting the growth of hockey in Ghana.
