In a resounding victory that has captured the attention of the nation, Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed has been officially declared the Member of Parliament (MP-elect) for the Ayawaso East Constituency. Securing a decisive 10,884 votes, his win marks a significant turning point for the constituency, as supporters celebrate a campaign built on the promise of renewed leadership and community-driven development. The atmosphere across the constituency remains electric, with constituents expressing high hopes for the transformative agenda the new representative brings to the table following his commanding performance at the polls.

Baba Jamal’s journey to the Ayawaso East seat is not just a personal victory but the culmination of a political career defined by resilience and high-level service. A lawyer by profession and a seasoned statesman, his political roots run deep within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), where he previously served as the party’s Deputy General Secretary. His experience spans both the legislative and executive arms of government, providing him with a unique perspective on the intricacies of national governance and grassroots advocacy.

Historically, Baba Jamal is no stranger to the halls of Parliament. He previously represented the Akwatia Constituency in the 6th Parliament from 2013 to 2017. During his tenure, he became a household name for his vocal advocacy and dedication to his constituents. His expertise was further recognized on the national stage when he served as a Deputy Minister for multiple portfolios, including Local Government and Rural Development, as well as Employment and Labour Relations, under the Mahama administration.

Beyond his domestic political roles, Baba Jamal has also served Ghana on the international stage. Most recently, he held the high-profile position of Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, based in Abuja. In this diplomatic role, he was instrumental in strengthening bilateral ties between Ghana and one of its most critical regional partners, often meeting with high-level delegations to discuss trade, investment, and regional security within the ECOWAS framework.

The shift to Ayawaso East represents a homecoming of sorts for a leader whose political journey actually began in the vibrant neighborhood of Nima. By securing this victory, Baba Jamal has successfully bridged his extensive background in international diplomacy and national policy with the immediate needs of his local community. His return to Parliament is seen by many as a strategic gain for the Ayawaso East Constituency, which now benefits from a representative with a rare combination of legal, legislative, and diplomatic prowess.

As he prepares to take his seat in the next Parliament, the MP-elect has pledged to remain a humble servant of the people, prioritizing unity and progress. With a mandate firmly established by those 10,884 votes, the focus now shifts to the implementation of his vision for the constituency—one that promises to elevate the voices of Ayawaso East and ensure they are heard at the highest levels of government.
