The sidelining of Mohammed Aliu Mahama, the first son of Ghana’s former Vice President, late Alhaji Aliu Mahama is yet to be over as the family marks the 8th anniversary of his untimely demise.

Mr. Mohammed Aliu Mahama who is currently based in New Jersey, USA was born on September 6, 1969 in Tamale in the northern regional capital.

Impeccable sources said he was livid of being sidelined in the activities of his beloved late dad 8th anniversary.

It is even sad that on the occasion of the 8th anniversary of the former Vice President, the family is currently in court battling each other over properties, according to the sources.

What precipitated this is the alleged machination by Farouk and his mother Hajia Ramatu to exclude the first son of Alhaji Aliu Mahama in the sharing of the late vice President’s property.

How Farouk wasted the estate of the late Vice President

Farouk Aliu Mahama who is the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Yendi Constituency in the Northern Region, is purportedly and wantonly selling off the property the late Alhaji Aliu Mahama without regard to the first son.

Below is the breakdown of how Farouk allegedly dealt with the late Aliu Mahama’s properties:

  •
  • Sold a Bitumen Tanker which was being used for LIDRA Construction activities;
  • Sold a piece of land at Spintex in Accra for $850, 000.00;
  • Sold another piece of land at the NOBISCO area in Tamale;
  • Sold another huge parcel of land at Vitting Junction in Tamale which the late Vice President purchased from Meat Corporation;
  • Sold almost all of the late Aliu Mahama’s construction equipment that were stationed in Kumasi in the Ashanti regional capital;
  • Sold another set of construction equipment including Tipper trucks, grader, Payloader, etc which were stationed at the STC Yard in Accra; and many others.

8th anniversary and matters arising

Alhaji Aliu Mahama died on November 16, 2012 at the Cardio Centre at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

On the same day his first son Mohammed who was based in the USA came down to Ghana to see to the burial and funeral of the late Vice President.

During the organization of the funeral, the State sponsored the organization of the entire funeral. In addition to that, the State and other corporate organizations made massive donations to the funerals including cash and other items.

However, at the end of everything only Farouk and his mother pocketed the huge donations received without a penny left for Mohammed Aliu Mahama.

There was a lot of confusion regarding the burial place of the late Vice President. Farouk and his mother insisted as against the wishes of the family elders that not only should the body be buried in Tamale and not Yendi but that the final funeral rites and all other occasion relative to the funeral be done in Tamale instead of Yendi, the late Vice President’s hometown.

When the funeral was later transferred to Yendi after the Tamale organization, neither Farouk nor his mother Hajia Ramatu participated in the funeral celebration in Yendi.

Only Mohammed Aliu Mahama, the first son attended it. In fact, Farouk and his mother maintained that they were not from Yendi and so would not be in Yendi for the funeral.

After the whole funeral was over, Farouk and Hajia Ramatu informed the family that there was no cash in any of Aliu Mahama’s bank accounts.And so till date, no one knows how Farouk and his mother have dealt with the money in the late

Alhaji Aliu Mahama’s bank accounts at Ecobank, Standard Chartered Bank, Natwest Bank Plc, among others.

The wickedness continuous

Shockingly, today Farouk Aliu Mahama and his mother Hajia Ramatu are telling the Accra High Court that Mohammed Aliu Mahama is not the son of the late Alhaji Aliu Mahama and so he would not get a share of the late Vice President’s properties.

Initially they gave him a few properties and when he refused and insisted that the entire estate be put together and shared, Farouk and his mother refused the proposal.

Farouk Aliu Mahama who is also the Deputy Procurement Manager at COCOBOD and his mother secretly applied to the Court for Letters of Administration (LA) to manage the properties of the late Vice President.

In their application to the court, they stated that the late Aliu Mahama died leaving behind a wife and three children by names – Salma, Farouk and Fayad. They left out the first son Mahama.

In addition, and in a wicked attempt to do their secret dealings they could not even wait for the 40 days Adua to be done before they could discuss the issue of the properties.

One would wonder if Farouk and his mother were already waiting and praying for the death of the late Vice President. In addition, notice of the Letters of Administration was not published for the 21-day duration as required by law, yet they managed to have the LA done using the powers that be.

And when Mohammed’s mother died in Tamale on August 13, 2020, neither Farouk nor his mother Hajia Ramatu nor any of Farouk’s other siblings attended the funeral. They did not even support with a bag of sachet water for the funeral. At the time, Ghana’s air birders were still closed thereby making it impossible for Mohammed to take part in the funeral.

When the late Vice President was alive, Hajia Ramatu never wanted Mohammed to visit the Vice President and for anyone to know that he was the son of the late Vice President.

Anyone who spoke to Mohammed anytime he visited the late Vice President became an enemy to Hajia Ramatu. As a result, Mohammed always stayed away from Alhaji Aliu Mahama.

Why Farouk allegedly held the neck of Mr Osman

Farouk held the neck of one Mr Osman who was in charge of LIDRA Construction after the late Aliu Mahama became Vice President.Farouk’s only reason for holding the neck of Mr Osman was because Mr Osman added the name of Mohammed Mahama (Aliu Mahama’s first son) to the list of shareholders for LIDRA Construction.

Farouk allegedly broke the center table of Alhaji Ziblila, Aliu Mahama’s Brother

Farouk purportedly slapped and broke the glass of the Centre Table of Alhaji Ziblila who is next after the late Aliu

Mahama when he Alhaji Ziblila tried to intervene in the sharing of the properties of the late Alhaji Mahama.Farouk warned Alhaji Ziblila (late Aliu’s immediate brother) to stay away from talking about sharing the property of the late Vice President.

Farouk Purportedly Attacked Dr Wahab at the Tamale Airport

Farouk attacked one Dr Wahab who was the Director of Statistics of Ghana to release to him Farouk the late Aliu Mahama’s shares in Aqua Quarries Ltd.

Farouk held the neck of one Alhaji Wahab at the Tamale Airport because Alhaji Wahab indicated that he could only report matters of the late Alhaji Aliu Mahama’s properties to the Zongo family and not Farouk because he is not the head of the family. Farouk has gagged the entire Zango family from ever engaging in anything to do with the property of the late Alhaji Aliu Mahama.

Farouk made Sanussi to start paying rent

Whilst alive, Aliu Mahama bought an Estate house at Sakumono and put his younger brother’s son, Sanussi in it.After Aliu Mahama’s demise, Farouk made Sanussi who is a nephew to Aliu Mahama and the son of Alhaji Mahama (a brother to Aliu Mahama) to start paying rent in the Sakumono flat that the late Vice President purchased and put him there. Farouk took over the house and made Sanussi a tenant who was paying rent to him.

Farouk allegedly seized Pajero from one Akoraa

Farouk also seized the Pajero bought for one man by the nickname AKORAA by Alhaji Aliu Mahama. The late Vice President bought the Pajero for him so he could use it in running hiss errands.

Mohammed Mahama still battles Farouk and his mother over the state of the below properties of Aliu Mahama

  1. Kukuo House (KU 165), Tamale
  2. House No 42 North Kanvili, Tamale
  3. An estate house situated in Bolgatanga
  4. An office block at Ridge in Accra
  5. A house in Community 20, Tema
  6. A plot of land in Kumasi
  7. A plot of land in Choggu Blk III, Tamale
  8. BMW 520 Series with registration number  GR 314A
  9. An Account with EcoBank
  10. An Account with Standard Chartered Bank
  11. An Account with Natwest abk Plc
