The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has engaged in high-level discussions with a World Bank delegation led by Dr. Robert Taliercio, focusing on deepening collaboration and sustaining critical reforms within Ghana’s energy sector.
The meeting, held earlier today in Accra, centred on strategic approaches to enhance the country’s power supply system, improve operational efficiency, and ensure long-term stability and affordability across the energy value chain.
Outlining his top priorities, Mr. Jinapor reaffirmed the government’s commitment to reducing system losses, guaranteeing reliable electricity access for all Ghanaians, and accelerating the transition toward a sustainable and resilient energy future.
He stressed that these efforts form a core part of Ghana’s broader energy transition agenda, which aims to strike a balance between affordability, environmental responsibility, and energy security.
The Minister further underscored the importance of securing additional generation capacity at competitive costs while attracting investments into cleaner and cost-effective energy solutions to drive national development.
In response, Dr. Taliercio lauded Ghana’s reform efforts and reiterated the World Bank’s continued partnership in supporting the country’s energy transformation. He assured that the Bank remains committed to providing both technical and financial assistance to help advance the Ministry’s vision of a modern, efficient, and sustainable power sector.
The engagement reflects Ghana’s renewed resolve to strengthen cooperation with international development partners as it works toward a greener and more resilient energy future.
