Despite the National Democratic Congress (NDC) winning power, New Patriotic Party (NPP)-aligned Public Relations Officers (PROs) still dominate key government institutions, strategically sidelining pro-NDC media while prioritizing NPP-friendly outlets to control the national narrative. Their goal? To ensure NPP’s return to power in 2028.

The latest example of this media hijack played out at the EOCO and UK National Crime Agency Fraud Reporting Campaign launch. Pro-NPP media houses such as Asaase Radio, Republic Press, Daily Guide, and The Chronicle were given exclusive access, while no pro-NDC media house was officially invited.

After the event, media personnel were ushered to the first floor for refreshments and transport reimbursement. However, the moment pro-NDC journalists joined the group, EOCO’s PRO, Ms. Faustina Lartey, angrily ordered them out, shouting, “If you were not officially invited, you have no business being in the room.”

This blatant media bias is part of a larger scheme to control government communications, ensuring NPP media dominates national discourse while NDC-friendly outlets are systematically shut out.

NPP’s Long-Term Plan: Media Capture for 2028

It is clear that these NPP-aligned PROs, still embedded in government institutions, are not working in the interest of President Mahama’s administration. Instead, they are executing a deliberate media strategy to undermine NDC communication efforts, limit access to state resources for pro-NDC journalists, and keep the NPP in control of the national conversation.

For eight years, NPP-controlled media houses shaped public opinion, defended Akufo-Addo’s administration, and ensured NDC voices were suppressed. Today, these same forces are being allowed to operate freely under Mahama’s government—a move that could be disastrous for the NDC’s long-term political survival.

Mahama Must Wake Up—Take Back Control of State Communication!

The big question is: Why is Mahama’s government allowing this to happen?

If immediate action is not taken, the NPP’s media influence will only grow stronger, ensuring that by 2028, they control the national narrative, weaken NDC messaging, and ultimately pave the way for their return to power.

The time for complacency is over. The NDC must reclaim control over government communication structures, remove hostile PROs working against the administration, and ensure pro-NDC media gets the necessary access to promote the achievements of Mahama’s government.

Failure to act now will hand the NPP an easy media advantage in 2028, making it extremely difficult for NDC to maintain power beyond this term.
