Call it out of anger or bitterness, Mr Kissi Adjeabeng, the newly appointed Special Prosecutor has revealed he would run to his predecessor, Martin Amidu for any sort of advice as to how to run the Office of Special Prosecutor.
According to him, the former Special Prosecutor did not give him a benefit of the doubt and went all out barking him once his name came up as the nominee for the role.
Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo program, the former law lecture alleged, the Citizen Vigilante, Martin Amidu seized every opportunity to smear him in public without giving (Kissi) the benefit of the doubt.
Clothed with that anger, Kissi Agyebeng admitted though he has no personal grudge with the Corruption Crusader Martin Amidu, he believed Amidu is not on the list of those he (Kissi) would fall for advice when it comes to how best to discharge his official duty as Special Prosecutor.
“I will go to Professor Mensah Bonsu for advice. I can’t go to the person who insulted me. The past is over and my focus is on the future. We are focused on what Ghanaians want now. When I realized that the office had not been set up, I had to do it quickly and we’ve done it.” Earlier on Starr FM, Kissi Agyebeng hit back at Amidu for attacking him, noting that his vitriolic were avoidable.
“If you don’t know me and you sit in your house and draft something and put it out there and people believe you, that is you. If he has seen me with the president and the way I relate with the president, the way we talk to each other and if he calls me what he says and all that, you have no inclination whatsoever and you go to say something like that, you are the poorer for it. You are the poorer for it because you have no basis in saying what you are saying but you are saying it. So when I hear all these comments, I shrunk,” Kissi Agyebeng said.
“I met a handing over note but I don’t want to talk about it. Just when I was nominated, the person started insulting me. How can I go for advice from such a person? I don’t have a problem with him but he doesn’t know me and you don’t insult someone you don’t know,” he added.
Nevertheless, he said he remained to focus on his official job and would not spend his precious time lamenting on the past, stressing that, he would not back down his vetting comment of making corruption a ‘high risk’ activity in the country.
Kissi Agyebeng disclosed that Martin Amidu had left behind a note but maintained he would not delve into the details of the document.
It would be recalled that Martin Amidu in one of his episodic articles alleged that Kissi Agyebeng is a puppet of the Akufo Addo regime, appointed to further the interest of some persons including the President Akufo-Addo.
“Anybody deeply knowledgeable about the Agyapa Royalties Transaction Corruption Risk Assessment report which resulted in my eventual resignation as the first Special Prosecutor knows that one of the beneficiaries of the Agyapa Royalties Transaction is Africa Legal Associates, whose contract to participate in the transaction was found to be contrary to the Public Procurement Act and tainted by bid-rigging.”
