The Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Efo Worlanyo Tsekpo has described the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government as useless if the refrain the alternative is scary as championed by Gabby Asare Otchere- Darko is anything to go by.
The founder and former Executive Director of the Danquah Institute, had described the NDC’s move to garner ideas from the public to draw their 2020 manifesto as an empty alternative.
Gabby Otchere-Darko on his Facebook page ridiculed the opposition NDC for particularly inviting the general public to bring their ideas ahead of the 2020 manifesto.
According to him, NDC’s lack of message for the upcoming elections clearly shows how the party has nothing to offer Ghanaians and how unprepared they are.
In a bid to win 2020 elections, NDC in a press release signed by the Deputy General Secretary on Sunday, November 3 entreated Ghanaians and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to bring their ideas forth as it will be inputted in their manifesto for the 2020 election.
According to Peter Boamah Otokunor, the move is to develop a “People’s Manifesto” that speaks to the direct needs and concerns of the people, as such, the public should send their thoughts of not more than four pages to the party.
“The 2020 manifesto Committee of the National Democratic Congress in its bid to develop a ‘People’s Manifesto’ that speaks to the direct needs and concerns of the people, wishes to announce the request for Policy Memoranda from the general public, Civil Society Organisations, Trade Unions, Associations and other identifiable groups in the country,” the statement read.
“The objective to develop a ‘Grassroots Manifesto’ is driven by need to give meaning to our Social Democratic principles of inclusivity and mass participation in the pursuit of growth and development of our county”.
But, in a statement issued and signed by NDC Bono Regional Youth Organizer, copied to MyNewsGh.com, Efo Worlanyo stated that if their alternative is empty then the current one under Akufo-Addo-led government was useless.
“Someone should tell Gabby Okyere Darko that if the alternative is empty then the current is USELESS”, the statement read.
He stressed “He has forgotten that if something is empty it can be filled. The bucket has to be empty before it’s filled with WATER”.
According to him, what is wrong with a party to ask its countrymen and women to contribute to its manifesto that will turn into a policy document to govern them.
“Does it mean Nana Addo was as well empty when he met stakeholders to draw ideas from them to develop his 2016 manifesto?” he quizzed Gabby adding. “Has Gabby forgotten Democracy has to be government of the people, by the people and for the people? He should know that power belongs to the people and NDC will never do anything without consulting our stakeholders who are the people we intend to govern.”
