A deputy National Communications Officer of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress {NDC} has gone out of his way as a national executive to spill the beans saying “John Mahama is our candidate for election 2024. Nobody can contest him, he is our automatic candidate and there is nobody to contest him. We are bringing John Mahama period.’’
Speaking on ekosiisen on Asempa FM and monitored by sharpnewsghana.com a deputy communication officer said even if the former president is in a wheelchair the party would still go ahead and present him.
He pointed out that John Mahama who is popularly known in the political circles as {JM} is tried and trusted hence his unalloyed support to the former leader,
The NDC is yet to go to congress and elect new leaders let alone presidential primaries to elect a new flag bearer, however, Kwaku Boahen was of the view that his former boss has no contest because he is the automatic candidate to lead the party to victory.
It is not clear yet if anybody would contest Mr Mahama as Kwaku Boahen’s position is the stance of many grassroots who are eager to see Mr Mahama back.
Most grassroots are of the firm opinion that the only person to win the presidency for the party is non less than the former leader of Ghana, John Mahama.
So far nobody had reared their heads or given any hint of their interest to lead the party ahead of the next elections.
Unlike in 2020 where over five persons contested the former leader in a presidential primary including Dr Spio Garbrah, Mr Sylvester Mensah, Prof. Joshua Alabi, Mr Goosie Tanoh among others.
