President-elect John Dramani Mahama has nominated Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin as Speaker of the 9th Parliament.
This decision was made in consultation with the National Executives and Parliamentary leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Bagbin, a seasoned politician, has had a distinguished career in Parliament, serving as Member of Parliament for Nadowli, Minority Leader, Majority Leader, and Speaker of the 8th Parliament.
His wealth of experience will be invaluable in steering the affairs of Parliament during this critical period in Ghana’s democratic and legislative development.
As Speaker of the 8th Parliament, Bagbin has already demonstrated his leadership capabilities, and President-elect Mahama is confident that he will further strengthen Ghana’s Parliament, enabling it to deliver effectively on its oversight responsibilities.
