President John Dramani Mahama arrived in Libreville on Friday evening to attend the inauguration and swearing-in ceremony of Gabon’s President-elect, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, scheduled for Saturday, May 3.
General Nguema secured a decisive victory in Gabon’s April 12 election, having previously led the country following a coup d’état that ousted former President Omar Bongo.
President Mahama’s attendance at the ceremony underscores the strong bilateral ties between Ghana and Gabon.
His presence also reaffirms Ghana’s commitment to fostering peace, security, and regional integration across the African continent.
Accompanying President Mahama are National Security Advisor Prosper Douglas Bani, Secretary to the President Dr. Callistus Mahama, Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations Stan Xoese Dogbe.
