The Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF), popularly known as MahamaCares, has intensified efforts to expand public awareness of its life-saving healthcare support by engaging Regional Ministers ahead of a nationwide stakeholder engagement campaign.
The high-level meeting, held at the Presidency, brought together the Deputy Chief of Staff, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, the Deputy Minister for Health, Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, Regional Ministers from across the country, and the Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku.
The meeting focused on the vital role Regional Ministers will play in ensuring that Ghanaians across all 16 regions understand the Fund’s mandate, eligibility requirements, and the procedures for accessing its support.
Addressing the gathering, Administrator Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku urged the Regional Ministers to serve as ambassadors for the Trust Fund by spearheading public education campaigns within their respective regions. She encouraged them to collaborate closely with traditional authorities, faith-based organisations, healthcare providers, civil society organisations, the media, and local communities to ensure widespread awareness of the initiative.
The Regional Ministers, in turn, pledged their full support for the nationwide campaign and reaffirmed their commitment to working with the Ghana Medical Trust Fund to ensure its successful rollout across the country.
The nationwide stakeholder engagements form part of the Fund’s broader strategy to make specialised healthcare more accessible to eligible Ghanaians, particularly those facing financial hardship.
The Ghana Medical Trust Fund aims to ensure that no eligible Ghanaian is denied life-saving specialised healthcare because of financial constraints, reinforcing the government’s commitment to equitable access to quality healthcare for all.
