The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has expressed appreciation to the chiefs and people of Amenfi Central in the Western Region for their strong support during the 2024 general elections, describing the constituency’s contribution as vital to the party’s victory.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia was speaking at a rally in the constituency as part of the NDC’s nationwide “Thank You Tour”, aimed at acknowledging grassroots support following the party’s electoral success.

Addressing party supporters, traditional leaders, and local officials, the NDC Chairman assured residents that the party would not take their loyalty for granted. He pledged that the government led by President John Dramani Mahama would prioritise Amenfi Central in the implementation of key social and economic interventions to improve living conditions.

“We recognise the trust you have placed in us, and we are committed to translating that trust into action,” Mr. Asiedu Nketia said. “Amenfi Central remains a strong pillar of our support, and its development will receive the seriousness it deserves.”

However, traditional authorities and community leaders used the occasion to highlight persistent development challenges confronting the constituency. They drew attention to poor road networks, inadequate school infrastructure, limited access to potable drinking water, and the absence of fully functional health facilities.

The Chief of Manso Amenfi, Nana Hyia Agyemang, commended the leadership of President Mahama and the NDC but urged the government to address what he described as the deteriorating state of infrastructure in the area.

“Amenfi Central continues to struggle with poor roads, limited access to clean water, inadequate schools, and insufficient health facilities,” Nana Agyemang said, adding that these challenges continue to affect the socio-economic progress of the constituency.

The Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, said some interventions were already underway, including road rehabilitation projects, health facility improvements, and initiatives in the water and education sectors. She described her mandate as a call to deeper service and assured residents that their concerns would remain central to government policy decisions.

The NDC recorded a strong performance in Amenfi Central during the December 7, 2024 elections, reinforcing the party’s influence in the Western Region, one of Ghana’s key political battlegrounds.

While welcoming the assurances given, residents and traditional leaders stressed the need for visible progress, noting that sustained trust would depend on the timely delivery of infrastructure and essential services.

As the NDC’s “Thank You Tour” continues across the country, expectations remain high for the government to translate electoral goodwill into concrete development outcomes, particularly in constituencies that played a decisive role in the party’s victory.
