The Greater Accra Regional constituency Organizers of the ruling National Democratic Congress(NDC) have called on President John Dramani Mahama and the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), requesting equal distribution of appointments to higher offices in government.
The organizers revealed that they have played significant roles in the party’s electoral process to the ultimate success but have been overlooked and underappreciated.
Speaking during a press conference, Mr. Gad Nene Ackwerh, the NDC Ada East constituency organizer and leader of the Greater Accra Regional constituency Organizers urged President Mahama to recognize the contributions of organizers and reward them with government appointments accordingly.
“We are calling on President Mahama to immediately address this matter and ensure that the organizers who sacrificed their time, energy, and mindset to ensure the success of the election get what is due to them,” He said.
The organizers expressed disappointment and frustration, particularly in the members of Parliament as they believe that their efforts have been taken for granted with excuses that they hold low academic qualifications.
“We want the parliamentarians to know that without us, the organizers, they might have not gotten the votes that they did,” Mr. Ackwreh stated. Knowing what we did during the campaign period to support their campaign efforts , we have suddenly been sidelined with varying excuses, ranging from the fact that we are not degree holders to other rather discriminatory reasons, which we find not only unfair but also insulting.”
Gad Ackwerh says in order not to stir tension and disunity amongst party members, the President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama together with the leadership of the party should compensate the organisers by providing what is due them.
