In a bid to bolster the chances of the National Democratic Congress in the 2024 elections, a group of professionals within the party have launched an initiative to raise funds for the campaign of the man who has become known as the “presumptive presidential candidate” of the NDC, John Mahama.
The group made up of doctors, lawyers, nurses, engineers, lecturers among others under the banner of NDC Professionals Forum say their target is to raise an amount of two million Ghana cedis from Mr. Mahama’s supporters both in the diaspora and in Ghana.
President of the NDC Professional Forum, Sam Pee Yalley who revealed this said the strategy would involve soliciting contributions from party supporters especially members of the NDC Pro-Forum to ensure they contribute to the pool of financial support the 2024 campaign will require.
The initiative is being driven by old and new enthusiastic members of the pro-NDC group who are making waves and yearning for a change of leadership at the helm of affairs in a debt distress country.
The group made up of thousands of members spread across the country and in the diaspora have already endorsed the candidature of the former president describing him as the most marketable and best choice to secure victory for the NDC.
Addressing members at the 5th anniversary and awards night of the NDC Pro-Forum, president of the group, Ambassador Sam Pee Yalley said “We don’t just talk, Pro-Forum put its money where its mouth is, currently we are piloting our fund raising platform, we made a pledge that we are going to support the flag bearer with a sum of not less than two million Ghana cedis”.
Ambassador Sam Pee Yalley also disclosed that that the group had developed an electoral training manual to train more than 15,000 polling agents ahead of the election 2024 next year.
