The Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly has confirmed the arrest of 14 suspected criminals following a police operation carried out in Dzorwulu in January this year.
In a press release dated February 7, 2026, the Assembly said the operation was conducted by a police patrol team on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, leading initially to the arrest of two suspects, with 12 additional suspects later picked up in possession of stolen items.

According to the statement, all the suspects are currently assisting the police with ongoing investigations.
The Assembly commended the Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Sydney Kabo, as well as the Kotobabi District Police Command, for what it described as swift and decisive action, noting that the operation has helped reinforce safety and security within the municipality.
“The Office of the Municipal Chief Executive assures residents that all necessary measures are in place to ensure their safety,” the statement said.
Residents have also been urged to remain vigilant and to report suspected criminal activity, particularly individuals who operate in pairs on motorbikes, to the police for prompt action.
The Municipal Assembly said community cooperation remains critical in sustaining security gains and preventing criminal activity in the area.
The statement was signed by Jacob Shamatey, Public Relations Officer at the Office of the Municipal Chief Executive.
