The Police has denied issuing a laboratory analysis report on a self-styled ‘man of God’ who has been charged with possession of illegal drug, among others.

The supposed report on the urine composition of 56-year-old Kwabena Owusu Adjei has been shared across social media.

It was published on the letterhead of the police hospital and signed by one Supt/Dr Adwoa Nuro-Panin, from the Psychiatry Department of the hospital.

It claimed the accused had tested positive for the use of several narcotic substances.

The report bears the signature of one Supt/Dr Adwoa Nuro-Panin, from the Psychiatry Department of the Hospital.

However, administrator at the Police Hospital in Accra, DCOP David Eklu, has indicated that the report is not an official release from the health facility.

“We have not received any official report on that so the Police Hospital has not issued any official report and we don’t issue official reports to the media,” he told theghanareport.com on Thursday, June 11.

DCOP did not confirm or deny whether such laboratory tests had been conducted at the hospital on the accused.

The document was dated June 9, the same day the accused was arrested by a team of CID and National Security operatives at Greda Estates in Accra at about 7 am.

Kwabena Owusu Adjei, in a video that went viral, threatened the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs Jean Mensa, the President and the people from Kyebi in very uncomplimentary terms.

The 56-year-old was arraigned and charged for threatening a public official, offensive conduct and having, in his possession, an illegal drug.

Speaking to a small group of congregants, Owusu Adjei said “…. today as I hear the word blood flows, it is …”, alluding to the June 4 Revolution and the subsequent killing of high military command in the Region 1979 June 4 Uprising.

The pastor referred to the overthrow of the president’s father, Edward Akufo-Addo, who was president in 1970 and suggested a similar fate would happen to Nana Akufo-Addo.

“There are some people when you give them the power they cannot hold on to it and he is just like his father” he gesticulated violently.

“There is no way he can hold on to this power. God is my witness, hallelujah” he said to which an audience responded ‘amen’.

In the same utterances, the suspect hurled insults at Mrs Mensa and threatened her with death.

“If Jean Mensa thinks she was not born of a woman and comes from some other angle and so wants to do another register…she should go ahead and do the new register” he fumed.

An Accra Circuit Court remanded the suspect to reappear on June 23, 2020.

Justice Emmanuel Essandoh, who presided over the case, advised the general public to be mindful of their utterances as it may land them in jail.

“Although we have free speech, we should always be guided by what we say. All of us here must take note,” he stated.

It has also emerged that Kwabena Owusu Adjei has made similarly destabilising comments under the previous Mahama government. He once said there would be a coup d’état if John Mahama won the 2016 elections.
