President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the creation of job opportunities for Ghanaian youth through new initiatives, including the flagship Adwumawura programme.
Speaking at the official inauguration of the Adwumawura programme at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi, President Mahama emphasized that the dreams and aspirations of the nation’s youth deserve not just applause, but tangible action, opportunities, and committed support.
“The dreams of our youth deserve not only applause but action, opportunity, and committed support,” President Mahama stated, drawing enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Reiterating his dedication to youth development, the President said, “I am committed to prioritizing the welfare, economic empowerment, and development of the youth.
That is why we have carefully crafted the Adwumawura programme and other initiatives.”
According to President Mahama, the Adwumawura programme is a direct fulfillment of a key promise he made to Ghanaians during the 2024 electioneering campaign.
He stressed that the initiative is not merely another political pledge but a profound expression of belief in the extraordinary potential of Ghana’s young people.
“The Adwumawura programme is not a mere promise; it is a declaration of faith in the extraordinary potential of the youth.
It is our commitment to nurturing their ambitions and translating their ideas into thriving enterprises that will drive our nation’s economy,” he said.
The Adwumawura programme seeks to stimulate youth employment, entrepreneurship, and innovation across key sectors of the economy.
It will involve a nationwide selection process to identify, support, and empower talented young Ghanaians to lead new ventures and drive economic growth.
President Mahama also reiterated that the programme is fully funded, with allocations secured in the 2025 national budget, ensuring its sustainability and success.
The launch was attended by government officials, business leaders, traditional authorities, and hundreds of young people from across the country, all of whom welcomed the initiative as a timely intervention in addressing the nation’s unemployment challenges.
