The aggrieved members of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), have urged government not enter into any negotiations with the leadership of CLOGSAG regarding the unlawful strike action declared by the Executive Secretary Mr Isaac Bampoe Addo as it has already lost it’s relevance and died a natural death.
The group said they have sincerely disregarded the directive of the strike because it was unnecessary and uncalled for since they are pressing issues that have been of great concern to it’s members than the appointment of an individual to the Births and Deaths Registry.
Speaking at a news conference in Accra, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Aggrieved CLOGSAG Members Prince Latif Oyekunle asked it members to remain at post to ensure the smooth running of government services to the general public.
” it is gratifying to know that our members and other well meaning CLOGSAG members have been at post working since the so-called strike was declared which is testimony clear demonstration of the fact that strike was unnecessary and completely failure. This failure is a clear indication that the interim National Executives of CLOGSAG have lost touch with the challenges confronting the ordinary members across the length and breath of the country. The welfare of members, better condition of service, befitting pensions package, mismanagement of funds, fraud corruption, these are real concerns that CLOGSAG members struggle with daily. “
The group also alleged that both the Executive, Mr. Isaac Bampoe, Addo Secretary, and the Acting Mr. Benjamin Otto has fraudulently forged letters to the bank and withdrew an amount of GHC500,000.00 from the Association’s main account at Access Bank without the legally required signatures, i.e., the National Treasure and Ag. 1st Trustee as stipulated in Article 21.4C of the CLOGSAG constitution.
Mr. Prince Oyekunle, therefore, stated that the Aggrieved CLOGSAG members demand the immediate resignation of the Executive Secretary Mr. Isaac Bampoe Addo and the Ag. President Mr. Benjamin Otto to allow for independent investigation.
“We demand the immediate termination of the illegal tie 3 deduction and refund with interest of all deducted funds. All retired officers occupying position in CLOGSAG must resign with immediate effect. W believe there are more capable active members to perform their duties with excellent.”
The group further disclosed that they will in the coming days, petition the President HE John Dramani Mahama, the National Labour Commission (NLM), the Ministry of Labour Jobs and Employment, the National Pension and Regulatory Authority (NLRA), and the Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP) to take action.
