Social Commentator Kwame A Plus has berated Attorney General Godfred Dame for being an unserious personality chasing unnecessary cases whiles there are pressing issues.
Achimota School and the Attorney-General’s department have filed an appeal challenging a High Court’s ruling that compelled the School to admit two Rastafarian students.
The boys, Tyrone Iras Marhguy and Oheneba Kwaku Nkrabea had dragged the Achimota School Board of Governors, the Minister of Education, Ghana Education Service, and the Attorney General to court for refusing to enrol them with the explanation that they had to shave their dreadlocks in accordance with the School’s regulations.
However, on May 31, 2021, the Human Rights Division of the Accra High Court presided over by Justice Gifty Agyei Addo ruled that the fundamental human rights of the two students cannot be limited by the rules in question.
But commenting on the new move, A Plus expressed shock over the Attorney General’s interest in the hair of a student when other pressing issues are at hand.
He said “You can’t find and prosecute people who stole excavators in broad daylight, you can’t find and prosecute government officials who were engaged in galamsey. You filed a motion to discontinue the Suhum funeral violence where the MP’s driver was seen in a video attacking a man with a machete. What is important to you as attorney general is how a judge erred in ruling on a schoolboys hair. Hair!”.
