Residents of Santasi-Apire in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region on Monday, October 4, 2021, blocked Santasi-Aspire road to protest over its deplorable nature
The residents claim they become stranded when it rains while they are compelled by circumstances to bear with dust in view of the regarded nature of the roads which are not only dusty but has developed several potholes
Speaking in an interview with Pure FM’s Osei Kwadwo, they explained that businesses have collapsed due to the poor nature of the road network in the area as they are unable to cart their produce to Kumasi which is a major marketing centre
The residents expressed their disappointment in the NPP and President Akufo-Addo’s government for neglecting their roads.
“Today we are demonstrating to express their grievances to President Akufo-Addo since he is in Ashanti Region. We know he won’t come here because his leaders in the region will never bring him here but through the media, President Akufo-Addo will know that we are not happy”.
They added “They shouldn’t wait till elections before they will tell the contractor to come on the road, we will not allow NPP and President Akufo-Addo to deceive us again”
