The Member of Parliament (MP) for Cape Coast South Constituency, Kwaku Ricketts Hagan has said he has received death threats in the wake of evidence in his possession showing rejected Cape Coast MCE nominee Ernest Arthur bribing Assembly Members.
The death threats he received come after Assembly Members in Cape Coast rejected Ernest Arthur as Cape Coast MCE nominee despite bribes paid to them.
The NDC lawmaker said he has evidence that the failed MCE nominee for Cape Coast withdrew an amount of money from the National Investment Bank(NIB) Cape Coast Branch to be given to Assembly Members in exchange for their votes but was still rejected despite the payment.
He stated that Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) camera captured the teller who served the money and recipient as well as serial number.
“I am holding the concrete evidence so those who are threatening to kill me will not kill the information since I have circulated all round”, he said .
Mr. Hagan also denied having any hand in rejected MCE nominee’s woes as he has no interest in the MCE position or who becomes MCE.
According to him, he has not given any money to any Assembly Member to vote against Ernest Arthur.
“What good does it serve me if I give monies to Assembly Members to vote against Ernest Arthur?” he asked.
“Even if Ernest Arthur did not get the nod, there is no way President Nana Addo will nominate person from opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to be a MCE but from the ruling party” Mr. Ricketts Hagan explained.
Mr. Ricketts Hagan made this declaration at the press interaction in Cape Coast.
