The Parents/Teachers Association of Wesley Girls’ Senior High School has said it backs the ban on Ramadan fasting in the same school.
In a Statement issued today, 6th May, 2022, the association said the school cannot change its rules to suit a section of students, the Ghana Education Service cannot direct the school to change its regulation when the same regulations have been used to churn out some impactful females making magic across the globe.
The PTA also said they all, as parents signed the undertaking to follow the school’s regulations before getting their wards enrolled, hence knew what they were signing for.
“As parents whose wards are in Wesley Girls and who represent different faiths and beliefs, we all signed the School’s undertaking which we received during orientation. The undertaking was clear, among other things about the fact that the School is a Methodist School and that students will have to abide by the School’s rules and policies. Importantly the school’s no fasting rule is non-discriminatory, affecting students of all faiths in the School.”
