Member of Parliament for Tamale Central Alhaji Inusah Fuseini has expressed shock at the contempt shown Parliamentarians in deliberations over the construction of a new chamber.
Details are emerging that point to the finalization of plans for the new chamber with the suspicion that a contract has already been awarded for the commencement of work.
The Majority Leader and Minister for parliamentary Affairs yesterday apologized to Parliamentarians after it emerged that most parliamentarians had no knowledge of the plan which was announced as the decision of the parliamentary Service Board.
Speaking in an interview with host of the Gold Power Drive Sena Nombo on Friday 5th July, 2019, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini said the move to construct the new chamber is a clear example of the “autocratic tendencies” of the current administration.
He described the proposal as scandalous and expensive and urged the leadership of Parliament to shelve the idea.
The Tamale Central MP said the decision if followed through will feed into the impression that MPs are placing their comfort above the needs of their constituents.
Alhaji Inusah Fuseini described the current chamber as fit for purpose and believes it will withstand the test of time.
