QNET, in partnership with Manchester City Football Club, has successfully concluded a four-day football clinic in Accra aimed at nurturing young football talent and empowering children through sport, mentorship and life-skills development.

The initiative brought together dozens of young participants from diverse backgrounds, who underwent intensive technical football training and educational sessions led by a team of Manchester City coaches alongside Ghanaian trainers. At the end of the tournament and clinic, 25 outstanding young players — made up of 21 boys and 4 girls — were selected after impressing coaches with their skill, discipline and potential on the pitch.

Speaking after the event, Trevor Kuna, Chief Network Development Officer at QNET, praised the program as a powerful investment in youth development, stressing that Ghana is rich in football talent but that structured coaching and mentorship are essential in helping young players reach their full potential.

“Passion is everywhere on that pitch,” Kuna said, noting that beyond football skills, the children were exposed to valuable life lessons including discipline, teamwork, communication, confidence, focus and respect.

He explained that the football clinic reflects QNET’s broader philosophy of empowerment through coaching, guidance and support, adding that the company’s partnership with Manchester City is helping transfer world-class standards and expertise to local communities.

Cherif Sarr, Regional General Manager of QNET for Sub-Saharan Africa, also hailed the clinic as a successful demonstration of how sport can transform lives and inspire young people.

According to Sarr, the four-day clinic featured world-class coaching, mentorship and life-skills education, while giving children the opportunity to learn directly from elite football professionals. He noted that the program also reinforced QNET’s long-term commitment to youth empowerment and community development across Africa.

Organizers said the selected players were taken through both field training and educational sessions designed not only to sharpen their football abilities but also to build character, leadership and self-belief.

In a unique climax to the event, QNET and Manchester City hosted a special football viewing session following the closing press conference, where the young participants, former Black Stars players, coaches, and representatives from both organizations came together to watch Manchester City’s Premier League clash against Aston Villa.

The shared viewing experience provided an opportunity for the children to interact with football legends and professionals in a relaxed setting, further inspiring them to dream bigger and embrace the values of sportsmanship and teamwork.

Parents and guardians were commended for supporting the children throughout the program, while organizers expressed confidence that the clinic had left participants with improved football skills, renewed confidence and a stronger belief in their future.

The Accra football clinic adds to QNET and Manchester City’s growing sports development initiatives in Africa, reinforcing their shared commitment to grassroots football, youth mentorship and community empowerment through the power of sport.
