The Member of Parliament for the Bolga East Constituency, Hon Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine has commissioned a newly constructed three unit classroom block for the Kumbosgo Kindergarten school in his constituency.
The facility was constructed with the MPs share of the Educational Fund with support from NEDCo and the chief and people of Kumbosgo and would replace the old mud structure which used to house the pupils.
The facility comes as a sigh of relief to the students and teachers who in the past have been forced to use a private uncompleted building as their classroom block whenever it rained.
When it was not raining, the pupils and teachers were forced to turn to a small tree with limited shade as their classrooms after the roof of the old mud structure was ripped off three years ago.
Coincidentally the school shares boundary with the staff quarters of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company of Ghana (NEDCo).
The Headmistress of the school, Madam Juliana Kabaya Yindol expressed her appreciation to the MP, NEDCo and all those who contributed to construction of the new facility.
She said the new structure will eradicate the situation where her teachers and students were forced to undertake classroom activities under a small tree making teaching and learning in the past very difficult and risky.
Madam Juliana said the building will bring a sigh of relieve to her personally because she has never been happy seeing her teachers and students in that state.
The Assembly Member for the area, Mr. Thomas Nyaaba and the chief could not hide their joy as they all expressed appreciation to all who contributed to the facility and to the Member of Parliament in particular for initiating the project.
The chief of Kumbosgo however appealed to Dr. Akuritringa to construct a fence wall around the school for the security of the pupils in the face of recent kidnapping and other vices.
A glowing tribute was paid to Madam Dawasa Janet who gave her uncompleted structure for the school to use after the old mud structure lost its roofs to strong winds.
Her gesture came as a huge sigh of relief to the school as they had no alternatives to housing the students after the sad incident three years ago.
The Planning officer of Bolga-East District Education Directorate, Mr. Thomas Adiyure Azuliya who stood in for the director, joined the chorus in thanking the MP for the gesture.
He however appealed to the Member of Parliament to help them through lobbying to get a permanent structure for the directorate and motor bikes and vehicles to help them effectively discharge their duties.
Hon. Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine in his speech said enhancing the education of his constituents was his topmost priority and was therefore happy to see the completion of the three unit classroom block.
“Today is one of the happiest days of my life because as a person, I am dedicated to enhancing the education of my constituents. We cannot have education without the infrastructure that enables teaching and learning to take place in a good environment”
Dr. Ayine said he was moved to tears when he first visited the school and saw the condition in which the students were learning after the old mud structure was rendered unusable by the rains three years.
“To be honest with you, I nearly shared tears that morning because the state in which I saw them was not befitting of the dignity of human beings”
Dr. Ayine thanked DCOP Patrick Atampugbire Akolgo for supplying sand and gravel for the construction of the facility.
He also thanked the Northern Electricity Distribution Company of Ghana (NEDCo) for donating 200 bags of cement to help in the construction of the school block.
He also thanked the chief and people of Kumbosgo for their support especial the community members who offered free labor during the construction of the facility
Dr. Dominic Akuritinga said the facility cost Gh₵109,000.00 because of the free labour the community members offered during the construction.
The Hon Member of Parliament promised to supply the KG with furniture and also promised to build a wall around it.
He encouraged the students to take their studies serious so that they can become useful citizens in society.
